Van
Van specializes in macro underwater photography with a particular interest in nudibranchs and small crustaceans that inhabit our reefs. He is also a co-author of the Bubbles & Lenses Advanced Underwater Photography Course
Photography
Nudibranchs: rabbit looking family of seaslugs, extremely diverse and colorful, displaying superpowers such as surviving decapitation, solar power generation (like Shaun the sheep nudibranch), toxicity or even perfect camouflage.
Crustaceans: mostly aquatic arthropods which have been around more than half a billion years — they include crabs, shrimps, lobsters and other fun looking critters. Have you ever heard of Cymothoa exigua? Look for it in the gallery below.
Photogrammetry
Van also hosts SDC's underwater photography workshop and contributes to the photogrammetry project for the 3D reconstruction of local dive sites. He is currently looking for an adept user of Blender to merge several 3D models into one. If you know someone, write to us.
