Coral Conservation Phú Quốc- Feb '25
A weekend in Phu Quoc, both freediving and scuba diving to help regrow coral reefs using the fragmentation method in a dedicated nursery. Followed by a couple of local dives against debris to recover, record and dispose of marine waste. Thanks to Gabriella, Binh and Hoang for volunteering!
Organised for SDC by our host Minh from Rumblefish Phu Quoc.
141 coral fragments were transplanted in 4 hours. The process included: learning how to propagate coral, classifying coral species, transplantation techniques, and hands-on practice.
2kg of Drupella snails (what are they?, on ReefResilience) were collected to keep corallivorous predators away from the nursery.
Location: Gành Dầu
The Saigon Divers Club community mobilised 17 divers to clean up a 4,000 m² patch of sandy bottom. Watch the video!
